Some thoughts about high-stakes testing, Big Data and little data. Teachers have always valued “little data,” like class quizzes, quick checks, exit questions. “Big Data” like once-a-year high-stakes testing overshadows authentic pedagogy in many schools today though. And the bigger the Data, the less connected to the actual students sitting in your room. Doug Johnson’s work is always worth reading and mulling over!
